Product Overview

The INMP441 is a TDK InvenSense omnidirectional MEMS microphone with a digital I2S output: 24-bit PCM at 8–48 kHz, −26 dBFS sensitivity, 61 dB(A) SNR, 60 Hz–15 kHz response and a 120 dB SPL overload point. It runs on 1.8–3.3 V at about 1.4 mA and connects straight to the I2S pins of an ESP32, ESP32-S3, STM32 or Raspberry Pi — 3.3 V logic only. Digital output means no analog noise pickup on the way to the controller.

The 6-pin header (VDD, GND, SCK, WS, SD, L/R) ships pre-soldered; tie L/R high on one mic and low on another for a stereo pair on one bus. The round PCB is about 15 mm across. Built for ESP32 voice assistants, wake-word and speech-recognition experiments, sound-reactive LEDs, recording and acoustic sensing. Single, 2-pack or 3-pack.

Does this INMP441 microphone work with ESP32 or Raspberry Pi?

Yes. It is intended for controllers with I2S input, including ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi, and similar boards. Standard Arduino boards only work if they provide compatible I2S hardware or a supported I2S audio interface.

Is the INMP441 module ready for breadboard use?

Yes. This ShillehTek module is sold pre-soldered, so the header is already attached for breadboard or jumper-wire use. You still need to wire it to an I2S-capable controller and configure the audio input in software.

What interface does the INMP441 microphone module use?

The module outputs digital audio over I2S, not an analog microphone signal. Connect it to your controller’s I2S clock, word-select, data, power, and ground connections, and use software that supports I2S audio capture.
