Solid STM32 Bluepill board requires programmer or Serial to UART adapter
By: JBerg
★★★★☆
Not a board for beginners or at least not for those unwilling to buy extra hardware and tinker a bit Unlike more beginner friendly boards you wont be able to program this directly over USB Youll need either a dedicated programmer or a Serial to UART adapter I had a Serial to UART on hand so I opted for that route with a steps you can get this up and running pretty easily in Arduino IDE After that it more or less works as simply as an Arduino boardThe board itself is really well crafted the presoldered pints are nicely soldered and there is no residual residue on the board Works great I was able to take a I2C display program directly from an Arduino Nano project and deploy it to this board It worked exactly as wellOverall this is a good board to use for embedded purposes and if you have a specific reason for a STM32 Bluepill Otherwise for the price and requirement for external hardware to program youre probably better off with a more modern Arduino clone board which can be had for roughly the same cost and are far easier to program

More complex need a programmer authentic
By: BRX
★★★★☆
So mine was authentic and seems to work as youd expect for this dev board Its more expensive than others on here but those seem to have hit or miss authenticity and specsIm taking one mark off due to the listing claiming that theres no additional hardware required which isnt right You need a programmer to burn the bootloader

Assembly quality is good everything works
By: S Miller
★★★★★
Im not reviewing this based on lack of documentation or the feature set the vendor assumes that if youre ordering this you already know what it is and what it does Im just reviewing the actual quality of the hardware and in that department I can find no fault

Not For Beginners Good Board Once You Figure It Out
By: Kn
★★★★☆
I have a bunch of Arduino and Pi boards so I did not think this would be too difficult It took some research and required additional steps to get it running including a converter to program it Luckily I already had one but is something you need to consider when factoring cost Once you get it loaded it is a decent microcontroller Overall the quality of the board is reasonable but it is not for a beginner

Good but not without some warnings

Nice STM board built on the reliable architecture that powers many of our embedded devices As mentioned by others you will need a UART connector for this to work plus a knowledge of C and willing to put in a little effort to get to that sweetspot where you are able to developdeploytestrepeat For most projects tho in my opinion grabbing something like the arduino nano usually come in packs of several and using that for my embedded projects makes more sense Having done embedded dev in the past I am familiar with the STM32 at the time architecture and communication process with the chip but prefer the nano for most of my basic needs

Quality development board for STM32 users
By: dumgoat
★★★★☆
This STM32 board from Shillehtek is a nice board but it is more of a headache than it is worth for most tasks If you are used to Arduino andor ESP32 boards there are several hoops to jump through to get this working in a familiar environment However once you get over that hump it performs wellIf you already work with STM32 boards or you specifically need one for a particular project this is a solid choice Otherwise you could save yourself some trouble and stick with the other board types that work nearly as well for most projects around the home and are much easier to use

Solid STM32 blue pill
By: T
★★★★★
I would not recommend this for your first microcontroller Youll need a serial to UART converter for programming Arduino Pi Pico and ESP32 are all much easier to get started with if youre just playing around STM32 blue pill is a bit more traditional youll need to be familiar with C but that also means youll find a good amount of documentation for this board These are pretty old but still good for general purpose embedded stuff

More complicated that Arduino Nano
By: ZaidalBoy
★★★★☆
First of all all the tutorials and instructions you need to use this board can be found online by searching the terms Blue Pill Board This is the common name that people use to refer to this boardhis is a cheap development board that isnt as user friendly as the Arduino Nano I had assumed that you can use the micro USB port in it to connect it to a computer and program it using the Arduino IDE software like all the other development boards I used before but it turns out that the USB port is only used for power In order to program this board you need another board called USB TO UART Converter look it up online or here on amazon to see purchase options and tutorial

Great board
By: Wills944
★★★★★
My usual goto board is an esp8266 but I wanted to try some other small boards out for some projects The pins are all evenly spaced and all the surface mount components appear to have even solder application I do like the fact that I can continue to use the Arduino IDE to program the board in addition to the other available programmers of KielCubeMX and STLink though a STLink USB Dongle or the USB port It has a lot more GPIO than the esp8266 It has 37 GPIO versus the 1117 of the esp8266 the esp32 has 34 Ive tested the board out on the Arduino IDE and it is as simple to drop code on as any other board and the test code ran flawlessly I cant wait to get started on the project this is intended to be put it Great board

more powerful but also more complex than the traditional Arduino
By: M. W.
★★★★☆
The product comes in the very basic and super simple packaging maybe it is way too simple so one of the pin actually got twistedThere is no manual or tutorial no any printed specification or anythingOf course it is a development board so everything needs to go back to online researchIt is a MCU with ARM 32bit CortexM3 CPU single core and a maximum frequency of 72MHz More processing power power IO pins and so on than a traditional Arduino UNO or NanoHowever it also does not have wireless connectivity for wireless connectivity or more processing power or cores then another upgrade to ESP32 series or ESP8266 maybe neededFor single core nonwireless project this STM32 MCU has pretty sufficient power capabilities and flexibility than a ArduinoHowever programming it is NOT as easy as an Arduino you may need an additional USBtoSerial module to program this program and switch the upper jumper boot0 to 1HIGH for programming and back to 0 for normal operational mode The serial pins used for programming can take the A9 and A10 from the BluePill for serial RXTXOf course you will also need to download some additional toolsboard in the Arduino IDEif it is the IDE going to be usedMore steps and hurdles just to put a led flash or blink program in this STM32 but most consensus online agree that this board is for sure better more powerful faster more capable than an ArduinoThis product appears to be a clone but at least it works for some simple programs So for less than 10 its not much to lose but lots of fun and MCU experience can be gained from this STM32

Good Development Board
By: Chris Davis
★★★★★
I have been an ATMEL programmer for a long time and I wanted to try out the STM32 board Its the same form factor as an Arduino Nano but quite a bit more powerful I stuck with the Arduino environment for programming as that what I am most familiar with It was super easy to add this board to the Arduino IDE So far I have had good luck with my projects

Not as simple to use as an Arduino
By: Martin Mortensen
★★★★★
Unlike an Arduino this requires a USB to Serial interface that you have to connect with jumper wires in order to program it Fortunately I have a couple Then you need to download support for it in the Arduino software and install the ST programming software for Arduino IDE to use Then set the jumpers to programming mode There is a video that walks you through all that Once you have it all set up though it programs just like an Arduino I havent done much with it yet beyond Blink So I cant speak to any of its particular features

The board fits a standard breadboard with 01 spacing making it easy to work with The pins are presoldered and the construction is very high quality It can be programmed through USB with Arduino or with the SWD serial wire debugging interface and a STLink programmer For beginners stick with Arduino because the ST Cube interface has a steeper learning curveIts nice that all of the IO pins are broken out for breadboarding Be sure to stick with 33V peripheralsExcellent board at a great price
